  1. Wacom Preference File

Wacom Preferences and How to Import. You have a Wacom tablet and have spent hours fiddling. You will be asked to locate the preference file you wish to.

Why didn't you install the newest drivers? You probably have to do it all over again and install the newest one, and make sure this time you uninstalled ALL wacom processes in order. Not like I haven't had to do the same thing several times.

Or that I haven't had to do the same thing over the years with many a wacom device. Not like I had the same issue when installing my latest cintiq. You're obviously much more familiar with how to deal with wacom issues than I am. What is the latest one you are using again?

Oh that's right you're using a legacy wacom on a legacy OS and are getting uppity with me, despite me trying to help you. What a fucking prick that you immediately take advice like an asshole.

What you are describing is a common problem that has plague Wacom drivers since I can remember. It sometimes happens to people while others have never had it come up. I've tried all the recommended solutions and none have worked reliably. The only solution that I have found to work is to do a whole system restore to factory settings(windows).

The only other option it to manually restart the wacom driver, or use the Wacom Tablet Preference File Utility to do it. Which would mean you'd have to do that most of the time whenever starting up windows, which it looks like you are doing. It's a pain I know, I lived with that problem for years so I feel you.

Over the years I have had to do 3 factory resets to fix the problem, but it has been about six years now with no problems. If you visit the Wacom site on their forums its addressed there but no one has a clear solution, and goes back since before I was even using a tablet. I've tried all the suggested fixes, some work, some work for a short time, some work for a few, and others don't work at all. Some of things suggested and I have tried are, disabling the tabletpc service, which you have done, reinstallling the wacom driver(tried using the newest to several older versions), using the Tablet Preference File Utility to restart the driver, restarting the drive manually.

I even tried to use a third party software to force the driver to load whenever it didn't start on its own but that didn't work either. There were a couple more but I don't remember the rest. A couple times after doing a factory reset the problem creeped back in almost immediately, but I can't tell if was because of some other driver or software that I loaded because it did not happen all the time. Like I said the problem has disappeared for me(knock on wood).

I do however, think that it is a driver conflict issue which is why some people have it and some don't. It happened to me so often in the past that I now have a shortcut in my start menu to the Wacom Tablet Preference File Utility, as well as 2 backups of my wacom settings that are easily accessed. I have 2 backups because I have also found that sometimes when trying to load the preferences back in the file gets corrupted by the process and no longer work. Even though its a pain in the ass, its still seems better than all the other issues that plague the other brands. Also just a heads up.

Whatever wacom driver version you are using, the saved preferences can only be used for that version. So if you use a news.er or older version of the driver you can not load your old preferences, you'll have to create a new backup for that version of the driver. This might have changed in the newer driver versions, I have not updated mine in a while since mine has been working and I'm afraid to touch it.

Hopefully, it will run smoother on another computer and it'll be easier to figure out the problem. 00 I have a different model so I'll avoid giving advice othee than encouraging you to contact Wacom or going onto the Wacom forums and asking there. I work on a pc and I abuse the wireless kit that came with my tablet. I set my tablet to turn off/shut down automatically if there has been no contact after a certain period of time ( let's say 2-3 minutes) in order to preserve the battery that works with its wireless capabilities. Tablet- Intuos pro med w/ wireless kit Maybe your tablet has this same feature to some extent but you didn't specify anything. I honestly avoid hooking up my tablet with the cord unless necessary so you'll get the best advice from someone else who keeps their tablet hooked up. Wipe clean your wacom drivers (that may include manual cleaning up all files left after uninstalling then from control panel) and install driver 63.63 This works best with CS6 Photoshop (if you use one).

Sai and Gimp, as well as Krita and Corel X3 work with it just fine. I have the same model of wacom. Also in Wacom tablet settings panel you can use to connect certain settings for specific applications. Maybe this will help.

Oh, if you want for painting programs to work properly with new driver you have to clean the preferences. It shows you in the window with applications an icon of all applications and photoshop icon. Each program may require (and usualy does) different settings for wacom pen pressure etc. You can set them in this panel and by adding aplications you can sepcify settings for each application you use. And yes, install this driver. I had problem with driver compatibility and all the sources recommended this one.

It works very well. There are newer ones but they seem to be incompatible with Photoshop.
